• Double click the Ethernet option and a new window will pop up in the window.
• Select/click the "Properties" option.
• Now check the "Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)" and then double-click it.

• After this, a new properties window will open as a pop-up window. select the option "use the following IP addresses".
• Now enter the IP Address: 192:168:1:1, then click Subnet mask that will automatically filled up with the IP 255:255:255:0 and also in the Default gateway fill the IP 192:168:1: 2.
• Now under the DNS server Addresses fill the Preferred DNS server with the IP 8:8:8:8  and leave the Alternate option to be blank.
• After filling, all these as stated,  click Ok and save all the settings.
• Now all the settings in your system 1 are saved.

Procedure3:  In step 3 you need to configure your system 2 i.e your second laptop by following the same steps as for the system 1 except one change. In system 2 fill the IP address as 192:168:1:2 and the Default gateways as 192:168:1:1. That is interchange these two IP addresses in System 1 and System 2. Save the changes in System 2. This will configure your settings in System 2 as well.

Procedure4: Now your two laptops are connected with each other for sharing the data. Go to the Networks Options of your System 1 which you can find at the bottom of the left corner of your computer.

In the Networks folder, you will find your computer's name. Refresh there and the name of the connected computer will start appearing there. Now the network folder will show the two computers ie your computer and the computer you connected with.

Procedure5: Now the two systems are connected with each other for sharing data ao transferring data between each other.

Follow these steps to share data between the two connected computers via LAN/Ethernet cable:

Step1: Right-click the file or folder you want to share with the connected computer and select the "share with"  option

Step2: Under the share with an option, select the "Specific people" option, that will open a new window.

Step3: Now select the dropdown option and select "everyone" there and click Add button. and then click the Share button at the bottom.

Step4: After this, your folder/file is shared with your connected computer that can access this file easily and copy it.

Step5: Go to the other laptop ie system 2 and open the network folder and select the name of the laptop, then follow the path as Public=>>desktop=>>"shared folder/file".
